School bells. Recess. Pocket money. Milo. The school canteen.

For many of us, some of our favourite childhood memories were made during recess—lining up at the canteen/tuckshop, deciding what to buy with our pocket money, and sharing meals with friends.

This National Day, step back into Joyful Plates Primary School for an afternoon of food, nostalgia and community as we celebrate the flavours we grew up with.

Together, we'll recreate a nostalgic school canteen—one favourite recess dish at a time.

Instead of a traditional potluck, every individual, family or group is invited to bring one favourite school canteen dish/snack or drink to share. Whether it's homemade or lovingly bought, every dish has a story, and we'd love to hear yours.

You don't have to be Singaporean to join us. If you grew up with similar school canteen traditions in another country—or you're simply curious to experience them—you are warmly welcome.

Come dressed in your old school uniform, or recreate your favourite school-day look, for a chance to win our Best Dressed Family or Group Award!

To recreate the spirit of a school canteen, we invite every individual, family or group to bring one favourite school canteen dish / snack or drink to share.

As a guide, please prepare approximately five tasting portions for each person attending in your group.

Examples:

* 1 person attending → around 5 tasting portions

* 2 people attending → around 10 tasting portions

* Family of 4 → around 20 tasting portions

We'll organise all dishes into our nostalgic canteen stalls:

When registering, simply let us know what you'll be bringing so we can create a balanced and delicious community canteen.
