A bright, joy-filled afternoon of stories, crafts, games and dance that brings Diwali to life for families.

Ages: 3–10

What happens

• Storytime: Join Vanessa Kapadia, Award Winning Children's book author as she reads her book It's That Time of Year! Diwali is Here! Winner of the NYC Big Book Award 2022 , this book takes readers through the 5 days of Diwali, one day at a time, using fun, memorable rhymes and vibrant illustrations.

• Stall Rotations:

  1. Sweet Shop — sniff and learn about spices, make your own Rasmalai Trifle (nut-free option available)

  2. Garland of Light — craft diya/flower pieces with a “word of light" to make your very own unique Garland of Light.

  3. Games Galore — pin-the-flame, lattu tops, balance relay.

  4. Kids earn Golden Coins at each stall.

• Bazaar Shopping: Swap coins for festive treasures.

• Dance: Easy Bollywood dance moves, lead by dance teacher, Sareena.

• Others: Snacks and refreshments and photobooth (available for printing or sent free to your email with customised Diwali stickers)

You’ll take home

• All your own creations: Dessert, Garland of Light craft, small festive items in a Festive bazaar bag.

• 1 copy of It's That Time of Year! Diwali is Here! Book (U.P. $18.15)

  
  

Good to know

• Some items may contain dairy/gluten/ nuts (please let us know if you have any allergies so our volunteers can highlight them to you)

• We will have side activities for the under 3s but only valid workshop ticket holders will get to participate in workshop activities. Some parents have asked if their 2.5 year olds can join in the activities with some help - yes of course, please get a ticket for them!

• Wear your best Diwali outfits!🌟
