🌿 A Taste of Persia – A Nowruz Family Celebration 🌸
Whether you already celebrate Nowruz or are discovering it for the first time, you’re warmly invited to join Joyful Plates for a joyful Persian New Year family celebration.
Nowruz marks the arrival of spring and is a beautiful tradition centred around renewal, family, and togetherness. This hands-on Cook • Play • Learn experience brings families together to honour Persian culture while welcoming the wider community to learn through play.
We’ll begin with a short, child-friendly introduction to Nowruz and meet Amoo Nowruz, a special character who helps children explore the meaning behind the traditions. Families will then move through activity stations where children build their own mini Haft-Seen (a traditional Persian display) while engaging in creative, sensory experiences.
✨ What’s Included
• Meet Amoo Nowruz (storytelling character)
• Build your own Haft-Seen
• Sabzeh planting (take home your own sprouts)
• Creative craft stations (decorate apples, eggs & mirror art)
• Make Toopak-e Khormaei (Persian date dessert balls)
• Taste traditional samanu
• Photo keepsake corner
• Persian music & simple group dance
• Light snacks and drinks provided
For Iranian families, this is a chance to celebrate Nowruz with your children in a community setting. For everyone else, it’s a warm introduction to Persian culture through food, play, and shared traditions.
🎟 Free entry – first come, first served (limited spots)
This event is supported by the Victorian Government through the Multicultural Festivals and Events Grant.
