About the event

Sydney Hills Makan Group — 3rd Mid-Autumn Festival Get-Together


This year, SHMG is teaming up with Joyful Plates to make it extra fun for the kids!


Makan Kakis Club Kids Workshop (Ages 3–12) — $28 — 4 to 5.30pm

Cook, play, learn about Peranakan culture & the Mid-Autumn Festival! More info here

  • Storytelling

  • Make Ondeh-Ondeh–inspired Mooncakes, and enjoy it with some chrysanthemum tea.

  • Lantern craft with unique Peranakan patterns complete with tealight.

  • Each child will also receive a limited edition Makan Kakis Club Tote bag

  • [Limited to 30 kids — 1 parent must accompany]


General Entry (FREE, gold coin donation optional at entry)

  • Everyone’s welcome: singles, couples, families, all cultural backgrounds!

  • Potluck style: bring a dish to share if you’d like, optional but highly encouraged as this is a community event (Halal-friendly please, no pork).

  • Calling chefs/restaurants/vendors: we’re seeking 2 sponsored dishes (kid-friendly + adult). PM Aaron to coordinate.

  • Seating available; bring a picnic rug/mat if you prefer.

  • Entry is FREE. Optional donation ($2+ coin) helps cover venue & expenses.

  • All children will receive a light up bunny headband sponsored by Joyful Plates. Please bring your own lantern if you're not joining us for the workshop, we will have a lantern walk when the sun sets...

  • Photobooth will be set up with customised frame and stickers sponsored by Joyful Plates, free e-copy sent to email or pay $5 to get it printed.
