Imagine a long picnic table filled with colourful ondeh ondeh, kueh lapis, ang ku kueh, kueh salat, kueh kosui and kueh dadar — shared between families, stories and laughter under the trees.
To celebrate the final chapter of our Makan Kakis Club series, we’re gathering for a joyful community picnic centred around one of Singapore’s most beloved food traditions — kueh.
Taking inspiration from the viral cake picnics around the world, we’re creating our own Singapore-style Kueh Picnic, featuring a long tok panjang table where families can place and discover different varieties of kueh.
Bring along your favourite kueh — whether homemade, store-bought, or from a local maker — and help us create a vibrant table celebrating the diversity of these traditional treats.
✨ What to Expect
🍰 The Great Kueh Tok Panjang
A long picnic table filled with colourful kueh contributed by families and local makers.
Each participant will be able to choose a plate of up to 5 kueh to sample.
If there’s more than enough to go around, we’ll happily open up another round of tasting — because sharing food is always more joyful together.
🎨 Craft & Keepsake Activity
Children will create their own mini kueh capsule keychain to bring home.
🎲 Nostalgic Kampung Games
Play classic childhood games like Zero Point (rubber band jump), chapteh, eraser battles, five stones and pick-up sticks.
🍽️ Food & Sharing
Entry is free, and we invite each family to bring a plate of kueh to share.
This could be:
homemade kueh
store-bought kueh
kueh from a favourite bakery or local maker
Together we’ll create a joyful community tok panjang filled with different kueh varieties.
Joyful Plates will also provide a small selection of kueh so everyone has something to enjoy.
Our 5-kueh tasting system helps ensure everyone gets a chance to sample different treats while reducing food wastage.
💛 A Note from Us
The Makan Kakis Club series has been supported by the Singapore Global Network, bringing families together through food, culture and play.
As this picnic marks the final gathering of the series, we’ll be inviting parents to complete a short survey to help us continue creating meaningful cultural experiences for families.
☔ Wet Weather Plan
In case of wet weather, the event will move to Balwyn Park Centre (Just opposite the Oval!) which we have already booked as a backup venue within the park.
The program and fun will go on — just indoors!
✨ Bring your picnic mat, your favourite kueh, and your makan kakis — and let’s celebrate together.
